First time to Pisgah? Don’t worry. We’re here to help!
We’re so glad you’re thinking about visiting Pisgah! Whether you’re new to church altogether, just moved to the area, looking for a place to belong, and everyone in between, we’d love to welcome you.
We know visiting a new church can be intimidating sometimes—you never know what to expect. Maybe you haven’t had a great church experience in the past or you’re worried you won’t know what the pastor is talking about. That’s why we created this page to help you feel at home before you even step through the doors.
And remember, if we aren’t the right fit for you, let us help you get plugged in somewhere else. What’s most important to us is making sure every member of our community has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and has a church home.
My First Visit
What time should I get there on Sunday morning?
Sunday morning has two components: Sunday School and the Worship Service. Sunday School starts at 10:00am and Worship Service begins right after at 11:00am. People begin filing through around 9:45 to get settled into their Sunday School room.
Sunday School is a small group setting with people in your age group where we have guided discussion on a particular topic that week. Don’t worry. You don’t have to share if you aren’t comfortable.
A member of our volunteer team will help you find the class that’s right for you!
What is service like?
Our service is a lively and welcoming event that centers on worship and biblical teaching. It includes these components:
Congregational singing: Worship is led through a mix of traditional hymns and contemporary worship songs.
A compelling, Bible-based sermon: Our church believes in the principle of Sola Scriptura, meaning “by Scripture alone.” The sermon is a central element of our service. Pastor Eric preaches directly from Scripture, often tying the biblical message to relatable, real-life issues.
Prayer: Various prayers are offered throughout the service, including the pastoral prayer, prayers of invocation, and prayers of thanksgiving.
Reading of Scripture: Selections from the Bible are read aloud during the service.
Welcome and announcements: Time is set aside to greet guests and share church news.
What about child care?
Our church offers outstanding child care from our outstanding infant care team that just loves rocking and loving on sweet babies to our PBC Youth, 6th - 12th grade, led by our youth pastor and his wife.
If your kiddo wants to stay with you for the first week or so until they’re comfortable, they’re welcome to join you in your Sunday School class.
All of our congregation is together for the music ministry portion of our Worship Service and then our children 5th grade and younger head to children’s church.
What should I wear?
You wouldn’t think this would be a frequently asked question but it is. The answer is: Whatever you have. Come as you are. And if you aren’t comfortable with what you have, contact a member of our leadership team and we will make sure to get you taken care of. We won’t let something as small as clothing keep you from having a church family.
How are new members welcomed and integrated into the congregation?
We encourage active participation from our new members. Your church family relationships works just like your relationship with Christ, your spouse, your friends, etc.: You get out of it what you put into it.
A core principle of being a part of the body of Christ is service and there is no shortage of ways you can serve the church and the community as a whole. From joining the choir, to grilling for our congregational events, to helping in the nursery, to decorating for holidays, we have a way for you to plug in. You’ll find that you make your closest church relationships with the people you serve with and that is a blessing to you, them, and your church family.
Beyond service, we have nonstop events and activities for you to join! We’ve even been known to pie our pastor in the face. All in good fun, of course.
What does the church believe about core Christian doctrine?
You can find a detailed list of our beliefs about Jesus, God, the Holy Spirit, marriage, baptism, and more on our Beliefs page. If you don’t find an answer you’re looking for, shoot us an email.
